We stand on the Word of God and build our lives on it
Read what we believe and why it shapes everything we do.
This statement is not a complete account of everything we believe. We hold these beliefs with conviction and humility, and we seek to express them with love toward all people.
1. The Holy Scriptures
We believe the Bible, comprising the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired Word of God, without error in its original writings, and the supreme and final authority for faith, doctrine, and Christian living.
2 Timothy 3:16 to 17; 2 Peter 1:20 to 21; Psalm 119:105; Hebrews 4:122. The Triune God
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three distinct persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, equal in nature, power, and glory.
Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:143. God the Father
We believe in God the Father, Creator of heaven and earth, who is holy, loving, and sovereign over all things, and who sent His Son for the salvation of the world.
Genesis 1:1; Matthew 6:9; John 3:16; Ephesians 4:64. Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, fully God and fully man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, and died on the cross as the substitute and sacrifice for our sins. He rose bodily from the dead, ascended to the right hand of the Father, where He intercedes for His people, and will return in power and glory.
John 1:1, 14; Hebrews 4:15; 1 Peter 2:24; 1 Corinthians 15:3 to 4; Acts 1:9 to 115. The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is a divine person, equal with the Father and the Son. He convicts the world of sin, regenerates those who believe, and indwells, seals, guides, and sanctifies every believer.
John 14:16 to 17; John 16:8; Titus 3:5; Ephesians 1:13; Galatians 5:22 to 236. The Baptism and Gifts of the Holy Spirit
We believe the baptism in the Holy Spirit is a promise for every believer, empowering them for worship, witness, and service, and is often accompanied by speaking in other tongues. We believe all the gifts of the Holy Spirit described in Scripture, including prophecy, tongues and their interpretation, healing, and miracles, continue in the Church today. These gifts are given for the building up of the Church and are to be exercised in love, under the authority of Scripture, and in a fitting and orderly way.
Acts 1:8; Acts 2:1 to 4, 38 to 39; 1 Corinthians 12:4 to 11; 1 Corinthians 147. Humanity and Sin
We believe God created humanity, male and female, in His own image. Through Adam's disobedience, sin entered the world, and all people have sinned and are separated from God, unable to save themselves.
Genesis 1:26 to 27; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:12; Isaiah 59:28. Salvation
We believe salvation is the free gift of God, received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone, and not by human works. Those who repent of their sins and confess Jesus as Lord are forgiven, born again by the Holy Spirit, and made children of God.
Ephesians 2:8 to 9; John 3:3; John 14:6; Acts 4:12; Romans 10:9 to 109. Identity and Purpose in Christ
We believe every believer is a new creation in Christ, with a secure identity as a child of God. God has given each believer gifts and a purpose, and calls them to grow toward maturity and to serve faithfully in the places where they live, work, learn, and lead, so that their lives bring glory to God and transform their spheres of influence.
2 Corinthians 5:17; Ephesians 2:10; Ephesians 4:11 to 13; Romans 12:4 to 8; Matthew 5:13 to 1610. The Church
We believe the Church is the body of Christ, made up of all who have been born again, and is expressed in local congregations. The Church is called to worship God, teach His Word, care for one another, pray, make disciples, and proclaim the gospel to all nations.
Ephesians 1:22 to 23; Acts 2:42 to 47; Hebrews 10:24 to 25; Matthew 28:18 to 2011. The Ordinances
We believe Christ gave the Church two ordinances. Water baptism by immersion is for those who have personally professed faith in Jesus Christ, as a public declaration of their union with Him in His death and resurrection. The Lord's Supper (Communion) is the remembrance of Christ's death until He comes, shared by believers.
Matthew 28:19; Romans 6:3 to 4; Acts 8:36 to 38; 1 Corinthians 11:23 to 2612. Marriage and Human Sexuality
We believe God created human beings male and female, and that marriage is a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, instituted by God. We believe sexual intimacy is a gift of God intended to be expressed only within marriage. We also believe every person is created in the image of God and is to be treated with dignity, respect, compassion, and love.
Genesis 1:27; Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4 to 6; Hebrews 13:413. The Return of Christ and Eternity
We believe in the personal and visible return of Jesus Christ, the bodily resurrection of the dead, and the final judgment. Those who have received Christ will live eternally in the presence of God; those who have rejected Him will be eternally separated from Him.
John 14:1 to 3; 1 Thessalonians 4:16 to 17; Matthew 25:46; Revelation 21:1 to 4
